There have been a number of prominent people who have made important contributions to society and the globe at large through their philanthropy. Here are just a few: Tony Benioff, Pierre Omidyar, Miley Cyrus, Angelina Jolie, Bill and Melinda Gates, and Sir Moses Montefiore.

Sir Moses Montefiore was the most well-known Jew in the world during his lifetime. He tirelessly fought for the rights of Jews all around the world. Even now, his legacy lives on as a potent symbol of fervent Jewishness.

Miley Cyrus has become a cultural phenomenon and a household name because of her work in the Hannah Montana film and a charity concert she headlined when she was just 16 years old. The former child star has participated in several charity events where he has sung with and signed autographs for sick children.

Among the many organizations that Miley Cyrus has supported financially is the Libby Ross Foundation for Breast Cancer Awareness. The group's goal is to help women who have survived breast cancer and to encourage early detection by giving financial and emotional support to women who are getting treatment.

As a result of their generosity, a brand new hospital in Mission Bay will be built.

Marc Benioff's $6.4 billion in wealth has allowed him to have a significant effect on the world. Together, he and his wife have put money into several different facilities for children, online resources for learning about personal finance, and the Carrot company that helps people give up smoking.

Marc Benioff founded the award-giving organization Angel Network.In 2000, he initiated it. It's not only a prize-giving group, but they also donate to charitable causes.
